Carte Blanche Indie Edition

On the release of Carte Blanche gave us many versions.  One version that could become a valuable collectable was the Indie Edition.

The book comes in hard cover form looking like the UK Edition except that it has a sleek black and black cover. 

The book was limited to 1500 copies signed by author Jeffery Deaver.

In my hotel today, after black coffee and scrambled eggs,  I was treated to my news paper.  As I was turning the pages I came across some reviews on Carte Blanche.  The articles appear in the Canadian National Newspaper The Globe and Mail.   I have found the articles online for your reading pleasure if you do not get the G & M.  Have a read and tell me what you think?

What's in a name?

Turns out that Deaver plus Bond equals success.  I was just told via a femme fatale that as she was enjoying the view at a restaurant in a posh hotel and reading Carte Blanche.  Her server came up to her and saw what she was reading.  This was the servers response:

"OMG Jeffery Deaver wrote the new James Bond novel!!??  I love him!  I have to go get it now!"

Carte Blanche Audio Book

Thanks to a iTunes Gift Card by my friend Jeff G I was able to download the Carte Blanche Audio Book.  This Audio book is read by Toby Stephens who played Gustav Graves in the 2002 Bond movie Die Another Day.  Bond fans will also remember that Toby Stephens also played James Bond in the BBC Radio Adaptations of Ian Fleming's Dr. No and Goldfinger.

I'm sampling the first chapters now and he is reading excellently.  This should keep me busy on my down time in the months to come.  

Carte Blanche Hits North American Stores

This is a picture of my June 14th Afternoon where I purchased another copy of Carte Blanche and continued to read it during my day.  I will be traveling around with this copy so I won't care as much if it gets damaged.  As you can see there is a second copy of Carte Blanche.  Since I've talked so much about it my girlfriend as decided that she would like her own copy and she is currently reading it! Talk about a great relationship!  I encourage everyone to go pick up a copy even if you are not a die hard fan as it is a great thriller read.  

Has anyone finished it yet or planning on picking up a copy soon?  Father's Day is this Sunday and it would make a great gift to your Dad!

The First Chapter is entitled.  Sunday.  The Red Danube.

In this chapter we meet a man who is driving a train and in the second chapter we meet our hero.  None other than James Bond.  This is a whole new Bond but with many traits of old.

A notable difference to the new James Bond is that he no longer smokes.  Deaver explained in an interview that spies no longer smoke because they leave behind too much evidence for the enemy.  Not because of the changes in society.

Jeffery Deaver in Toronto!!

Thursday June 16 Jeffery Deaver will be in Toronto for a meet and greet discussing his new book Carte Blache.  Come down to 55 Bloor Street West to see him at the Indigo Maunlife Centre.  Event is free and goes from 7 pm - 10 pm.
