Rhys Ifans Arrested

Ryhs Ifans was recently rumoured to be casted in the 23rd Bond movie but denied the reports. Friday night at Comic-Con he was reportedly arrested and cited for a misdemeanour for shoving a female security guard.

He went on to have a few choice words for the USA.  Not his finest hour for sure.

He has appeared with Daniel Craig before in the 2004 movie Enduring Love.  If the rumour was true, perhaps this incident will cause the producers to look elsewhere.  Time will tell.

Daniel Craig Diet

I've asked my friend Dr. Murphy to give a write up on 007 nutrition.  It's important for 007 to stay fit to fight and you can add it to your daily routine too:

The Challenge:  Eat Paleo for 30 days and lose some weight
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Absolutely no processed foods, no grains – wheat (pasta, bread, cake), rice, corn, barley, oats, etc. and no dairy - milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheese. If you can hunt it, fish it, pick it or forage it you can eat it.

Skyfall 007 - Daniel Craig Diet - Marketto007's Fan Art
007 Guidelines to help you along your way
At least 8 hrs sleep (eg. 11pm – 7:30am) in a very dark room (no lights or displays – put tape over your alarm clock display)

Drink 0.5 L or water with and between every meal, add a small pinch of sea salt to each 0.5L for electrolytes. Green tea is also good for you.

Eat 3 to 5 times a day until full (No food/water at least 2 hrs before bed), Each meal should have protein 3-6oz, fat (avocado, olive oil, or almonds) and some vegetables (no potatoes, yams or corn – too starchy) preferably leafy goodness (bok choy, spinach, spring mix) but get colourful (pepper, carrots, eggplant, broccoli)

Eat a high protein and fat breakfast (onion, mushroom, zucchini, spinach and chicken omelets covered with salsa, side of berries), stay away from cereal and yogurt (milk).

No more than 2 servings of fruit a day (keep to berries, melons, plums, apricots, pears, apples and stay away from bananas and mangos). Having it as desert in your last meal of the day, it will help curb the sugar cravings late at night.

Get outside and move around preferable in the morning (even 50-100 jumping jacks before jumping in the shower really revs up the body for the day). Try to do some activity (walk, bike, play with or chase the kids/grandkids) 3-4 nights a week.

Do not confuse hunger for thirst – If you are hungry, drink another glass of water and add more vegetables to the next meal (if you aren’t full after 2 cups of broccoli add a 3rd it’s good for you).

Daniel Craig wants to start filming!

In a recent interview on "Extra" Daniel Craig was promoting his newest upcoming summer block buster, Cowboys & Aliens.  Craig was questioned on the latest status of the 23rd James Bond film.

"We've got a script, it's fantastic and we start shooting October... November this year for a November release next year," Craig said. "I'm really gagging to go. I've had a break now, and things have come together with the timing of it."
"Although it seemed like it was never going to happen, it was always going to happen... People sorting out finances and things like that beyond my control. It's given me a chance to have a break and given me some incredible opportunities like make a cowboy movie and work with David Fincher. I'm very lucky."

So the script is fantastic according to Daniel Craig.   (Although they always say that! and the new Bond Girl will be Bond's equal!)
The October, November timeline to start filming will probably be 2nd unit shooting. The principal actors will probably not work January till about summer time.
This will be Daniel Craig's 3rd time playing James Bond and thus fulfilling his contract.  The standard 007 contract is a 3 film deal with an option for a 4th.  Stand by for the press to continue to ask this question to Daniel Craig throughout the year and during the premiere.  No doubt the producers will be asking him as well behind closed doors.

007 Polo

Many of Station C Canada's readers have been asking when will I be doing some posts on the 007 clothing?  So for my German/Canadian and Algerian readers here you go!

One of the first items needed this summer will be a 007 Polo by Sunspel.  007 can often be seen wearing polo shirts when he is not in the office.  Lately, Daniel Craig has been wearing them in his movie and of course they are Navy Blue.  The 007 Polo from Sunspel can be seen in the Bahamas sequences of Casino Royale when M is briefing 007 about a certain card game in Montenegro.  In Quantum of Solace he can be seen wearing one in Haiti and later in Bolivia under his jacket.

Sunpel offers the 007 polo at a reasonable price compared to any version that Tom Ford would produce.

Here is a link 007 Polo

When ordering you may want to go one size up from how you normally wear it.

This is a staple 007 shirt that is quite easily attainable.  For more information visit the http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/

Bond 23 Casting

Welsh actor, Rhys Ifans, will supposedly be joining the cast of the yet untitled Bond 23.   Ifans is said to be in the film along with No Country For Old Men star, Javier Bardem.  MGM has not come out with an official press statement yet confirming or denying this.

The only concrete casting so far is Daniel Craig playing Ian Fleming master spy, Dame Judi Dench playing  M, with Sam Mendes Directing.  Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are returning to write the screenplay for the 5th time and John Logan will be doing the "Paul Haggis script polishing" this time around.

Risico Explained

Station C Canada was given a very special treat the other day.  Commanderbond.net's Major Tallon has provided the site with a comprehensive response to the question, "What language or where does the title Risico come from?"

Risico one of five short stories within Ian Fleming's novel, For Your Eyes Only.  The title has yet to be made into an official movie yet.  Will it become Bond 23's title?

This is the response I got from the Major a personal friend and reader of SCC:

"There’s not a huge amount to tell about Risico.  The manuscript of FYEO is at the Lilly Library, and the first thing I noticed was that the five stories in the collection weren’t all typed on the same paper.  Fleming obviously wrote them at different times, and maybe not all in Jamaica. The stories were adapted from the outlines he prepared for a proposed American TV show (I wish I knew where all the outlines are, but they’re not at Lilly).   Risico itself is a fine story, but one of the lesser edited ones, so there aren’t a lot of deviations between the manuscript and the final story.  I’ll comment on a few of them.  It’s not a change, but it was interesting to note while we were in Venice that a lot of the places we saw (Florian’s, the Quadri, Harry’s Bar, the Danielli, the Gritti Palace, and the railway causeway) are all mentioned in the story.  Also, I gave some thought to taking a vaporetto over to the Alberoni, but the walking distance from the pier to the beach is a lot farther than Fleming mentioned (and the guide book said that the beach is now a popular gay hangout), so I decided I’d give it a miss.

The title itself is the result of Fleming’s attempt to capture how Kristatos might pronounce the English work “risk.”  Fleming often tried to write out phonetically how non-British speakers (like Quarrel or American gangsters) might pronounce words, and this was his effort with Kristatos.  In the original manuscript, the line was written, “You understand, Meester Bond that in this pizniss is much risiko.”  By the time the story was published, the first few words were trimmed, and the spelling of the last word was changed to “risico.”  Not a lot of other significant changes, just wordsmithing.  The word “UFFICIO” as used throughout the story was originally “Private.”  The reference to “a fast game of chess” was originally “a game of draughts or Chinese checkers.”  After checking out that the Walther was in good firing order, he “slipped it back into the Burns Martin Triple holster inside the top of his trousers to the left.”  The reference to “Mr. Toad of Toad Hall” was originally “Froggy would a-wooing go.”  The reference to the King’s Medal was originally the Queen’s Medal (Fleming apparently having forgotten who was on the throne during WWII).  And, at the end, the reference to “a mound of fried eggs” was originally “scrambled eggs.”

As I said, there’s not a whole lot of difference between the manuscript and the published account, but these are the most significant ones."

Licence Renewed

In 1981 James Bond was back in the first 007 John Gardner novel Licence Renewed.
This year marks it's 30th's Anniversary and thanks to his son, Simon Gardner, and his fans we will see the reissues of his wonderful novels.

One fan of Station C Canada, working in Algeria, mentioned that he was going to start to read the John Gardner novels.   2011 is the perfect time to reread these adventures due to the rereleases.

Jeffrey Wright's Present

Jeffrey Wright, who plays James Bond's CIA friend and contact Felix Leiter, in the latest 007 movies staring Daniel Craig informs us of his post filming gift.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson gave Jeffrey Wright an Omega Seamaster to show there thanks for working on the Bond movie.

The tidbit of information comes from an article stating the items that Wright never leaves behind when flying.

Have a look at http://www.felixleiter.com/ for more information on the character and actors that have played Felix.

Rich Douglas: The Golden Bullet

Excellent composer and fan of James Bond, Rich Douglas, has recently put together a darker version of sound from The Man With the Golden Gun.  He is inspired by Daniel Craig playing the role of 007 in this version rather than 1974 film starring Roger Moore.
